Baby rescued from near drowning

A 19-month-old child fell into a Lakewood Ranch swimming pool this morning and nearly drowned.
Stephen and Kelly MacKinnan were preparing to use their in-ground pool in the 7300 block of Desert Ridge Glen and removed the safety fence from around it, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Kelly MacKinnan was inside the home with her 1-month-old child and called for her husband’s help when the child started to cry.
Stephen MacKinnan went into the house and when he looked outside to check on 9-month-old Jack, saw him face down inside the pool.
They removed the child from the water and Kelly started CPR. EMS arrived and took Jack to All Childrens Hospital in St. Petersburg via BayFlight.
As Jack was being wheeled out to the helicopter, he was alert and looking around, according to the press release.
