Stolen Puggle Returned Safely

Published: March 18, 2006

The stolen puggle puppy taken from a Hollywood puppy store last week has been safely recovered, all while the Miami woman that had him says she didn’t even know the puppy had been stolen.

The “puggle”, one of the hottest and most expensive breeds comprised of a beagle and a pug was taken from the 441 Puppies store on State Road 7 in Hollywood last Friday. Surveillance video caught a woman, who police say is Sarah Lynn Baldwin, talking or distracting a store employee while a man helped himself to the puggle of choice. He is then caught on camera stuffing the pup in his baggy pants as he walked away without paying.

Baldwin, who lives in the Fountainbleau area of West Miami-Dade, apologetically returned the pup this Friday morning to the store. She says she never even knew that the puppy had been stolen when her friend gave it to her. It was afer hearing of the story and being pressured by her own friends that she returned it.

Even though she is cooperating with police in the investigation, she is still being charged with one count of possession of stolen property. Police are trying to track down the man that was with her at the store, seen stealing the dog in the surveillance video.

The puppy is being checked out by a doctor as employees suspect he might be sick.

Once it’s given a clean bill of health he will be given to a charity to be auctioned off.
