City employee came to rescue during blizzard
Published: March 16, 2006
A winter blizzard brought out the best in people, one local woman found.
Sarah Anderson, of Manitowoc, submitted the February winning entry in the Random Acts of Kindness Contest, sponsored by U.S. Bank and the Herald Times Reporter.
Following is Anderson’s story:
The morning after the blizzard, my aunt, who will be 98, was stuck in a snow bank with her aide.
She must use a walker so it was impossible to get her out of the car and into the house.
After a call to a towing company, we three sat waiting and waiting.
Then all of a sudden, this knight in shining armor came to the rescue.
His armor was a vest of fluorescent orange with some reflective stripes. His white steed was in the form of a city snowplow.
He gently removed the snow from around the car and even took the time to shovel the rest.
Then he got on his plow and left us with a wave.
Just who he was or where he came from we might never know, but we’ll never forget his kindness.
