No updates until Wednesday

Published: March 12, 2006

Good News Blog tries to … No, wait, that’s the wrong tone. That makes it sound so “official”.

Let’s start over…

I try my best to update Good News Blog once a day no matter what. But once in a while things come up which are so important that I feel no guilt in leaving you to fend for yourself for a day or two.

Now is one of those times. I’m living this wonderful good news myself where I have the chance to be close to my mother, my brother and my sister-in-law. For most of the time I’ve been updating Good News Blog anyway — but now is the time to cherish those moments very intensely and use that time for my family as well.

Starting late Wednesday I’ll resume the daily updates. Until then I challenge you to spot your own good news — without getting all sappy.

I challenge you to stand in a slow moving line and consider how many people wish they could stand in a line like that. Some can’t stand. Some live in places where you stand in line for hours for a can of beans.

I challenge you to be happy for that trainee cashier: isn’t it nice she has a job? I challenge you to take something really sad and see if there is a flip-side to it as well. Is the sad part more valid, more real than the good part?

I challenge you to sit someone important to you down and tell them just how important they are to you.

I challenge you to live some good news of your own.

God bless — and I’ll see you Wednesday!
