Woman found by rescue dog

AN ELDERLY Grahamstown woman survived two days and two nights without food or water after she went missing from Waterloo Farm in the area on Friday.
The 80-year-old Zanyine Menze – who weighs a mere 38kg and is dependent on a walking stick – was found by Port Alfred K9 search and rescue dog Tiger about 2km from the farm where she disappeared.
Tiger’s handler Inspector Rocco Malherbe said Menze was lying in a foetal position in a dehydrated state and close to death when she was found at about 8pm on Sunday. She was admitted to Frontier Hospital.
Malherbe said Menze went missing at about 2pm after an apparent alcohol-related altercation with her son.
Malherbe said he had no doubt that Menze would not have survived another night. “She has Tiger to thank… and probably God as well.”
