Car push for charity sets world record

It’s a heavy record, but not one that will weigh down the winners.
Rob Kmet and A.J. Zeglen of Winnipeg recently learned they set a Guinness World Record when they pushed a 1,180-kg car more than 70 kilometres around an oval track at Gimli Motorsports Park during a 24-hour period last September.
Kmet has pushed cars to raise funds for cancer research with the help of three different partners over the last three years in an event he created called Pushin’ for a Cure.
He said he was thrilled to learn he and Zeglen had established a world record and possibly won a place in future editions of Guinness’ famous annual book.
The boy who inspired Kmet died before anyone received official word of the record. Jonathan Watson of Teulon suffered from a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma and died in November at the age of 11.
Kmet said he and Zeglen will try to break their record this September to honour Watson and raise more funds for cancer research.
