Angel Food Ministries

We all want to save a little money. Finding a way to do that is a bit harder. One program being offered to folks is making “saving money” a little easier. It’s a food ministry that’s geared to help save you money.
“What you get with this is approximately 60 to 70 dollars worth of food for only 25 dollars,” says Pastor Guinn Shingleton of Faith Outreach Family Church.
Here’s how it works: The founder of Angel Food Ministries negotiates deals with name brand food companies to buy in bulk. From there they send their hosting partners menus and order forms. Then you simply place your order. The food is delivered one Saturday a month.
“You put it in your freezer. It lasts forever. You can’t get 25 dollars worth of food for the stuff you get here. It’s just really good product and program,” says Elisabeth Miller, a volunteer.
The product being shipped is not “day old” or “outdated” food.
It’s all fresh, name brand products shipped on refrigerated trucks.
“People are buying in mass quantities at a time because you don’t get a deal like this anywhere else,” says Miller.
The food ministry isn’t only for those in need. It’s for anyone wanting to save a little money.
“It is open to anybody. You can be a blue collar, white collar and any position in life and you’re eligible for the food program,” says Shingleton.
There’s no limit to how much you can purchase and for a family the program can mean a lot.
“You can’t beat it. You get $60 worth of food for $25 and I’ve got a family of four so that really helps out with the food budget,” says Ron McClure.
Faith Outreach Family Church started the Angel Food Ministries just six months ago selling 38 boxes of food. As of Sunday they are up to 400 boxes and are hoping to help others around the Valley.
