Brother and sister reunited after 63 years
Published: February 22, 2006
his reunion was a long time coming.
After 63 years apart, a 91-year-old woman and her 82-year-old brother have been reuinited at a nursing home in Pennsylvania.
Somehow, they both wound up at the same ManorCare Health facility in Spring Township.
Joe Buzalewski had moved to the home in July. He didn’t know that his sister, Florence Quinter, lived there until he saw her name on a board in the rehabilitation department last week.
He told a therapist he had a sister with that name — and the two were reunited.
The nursing home served a cake to celebrate.
Buzalewski says the two are the last survivors among 13 siblings. They had last seen each other in 1942 before he joined the Marines and left for the South Pacific.
