Family reunited after story seen on site

Published: February 6, 2006

The Mudgee Guardian has helped to reunite an Italian man with his long-lost uncle, who now lives in Mudgee.

Giordano Zubani rang the paper to say his nephew, Luciano Zubani had rung him from overseas. He is currently working as a peacekeeper in Palestine.

Luciano learned about Giordano’s whereabouts after seeing a story about Giordano and his wife Jan’s missing dogs on this website. The story was published on page three of the Monday, January 16 edition .

He emailed the paper, asking us to get in touch with his uncle. We did. The Guardian then emailed Luciano back with Giordano’s phone number.

Finally, last week, the younger Zubani got through.

Giordano asked his nephew how he had come across the Mudgee Guardian article. Luciano told him he had done an Internet search under ‘Zubani.’

Giordano said he was thrilled to hear his nephew’s voice.

“I was pleased to hear from him. When I left Italy about 40 years ago, he was only seven or eight years old and now he is happily married with two daughters. He is a nice man with a family.”

Giordano said Luciano told him that ‘he felt there was a missing link with his family and he wanted to get in touch with me and wanted us to get to know each other’.

“It was very touching. We have not had any contact for many years.”

Next, Luciano is planning to email some photos to the Mudgee Guardian, which can then be printed for Giordano.
