Published: February 2, 2006
Western Cape firefighters have saved a baby and another child from a burning house in the Wolseley area in the Boland, while battling to extinguish a run-away fire.
The fire started on a farm yesterday afternoon, but rapidly spread to surrounding areas. Hundreds of hectares of land have been destroyed.
Executive Mayor for the Cape Winelands Clarens Johnson says the children were treated for smoke inhalation.
Fire fighters have been working non-stop since yesterday afternoon to put out the runaway fire.
