Rescue parties find missing 13-year-old skier

Published: January 31, 2006

Rescue teams found a 13-year-old skier Monday after he had been missing overnight near Mount Hood.

The Clackamas County sheriff’s office said a National Guard helicopter found Bryan Cross, of Eugene.

Cross was able to walk to rescuers who picked him up with a snow cat. The sheriff’s department said it didn’t have any information about the teenager’s medical condition.

Rescuers had said they believed that Cross had left a party of skiers for a backcountry part of Multorpor ski area. His friends called authorities Sunday to report that he hadn’t returned from the day’s skiing.
