12 year old adventurer returned to his parents

Published: January 28, 2006

It was the quick thinking and calm demeanour of two staff members at Cara Foods that helped reunite a runaway boy with his parents.

12 year old Stephen Jeffers showed up on the doorstep of an office building near the airport at around on o’clock Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson for Cara Foods says the receptionist thought it strange a boy was alone in an industrial area when he should have been at school, so she notified her manager.

Jeffers was convinced to go onto the manager’s office for a friendly chat.

After about a quarter of an hour, Jeffers agreed to let the man call his parents.

Jeffers apparently left home Wednesday to try to meet up with friends in the United States. Someone he had met on-line.

He is now back with his parents in North Vancouver.
