Mystery donor rescues charity
Published: January 21, 2006
A mystery donor has stepped in to rescue a cash-strapped Cumbrian charity for the disabled after it revealed it was on the brink of closure.
The anonymous benefactor has handed £14,500 (over $26,000 USD) to the Barrow and District Disability Association (BDDA) to help ensure its services remain available over the coming months.
Chiefs today revealed the good cause employs three workers and said the money will keep the charity in business until April.
The 25-year-old BDDA was under threat of closure due to a lack of funding and the mystery donor is said to admire the work of the organisation, and has supported it for many years.
