Hockey dreams returned to teen

Published: January 10, 2006

Left reeling and with only a stick, a Calgary teen who had all his hockey equipment stolen from his driveway was thankful yesterday to be reunited with his gear, said his dad.

Troy Smith, 15, was about to play his first game of the year Saturday, when his equipment bag was stolen.

But a good Samaritan turned the disgust the teen felt into relief and gratitude, said Troy’s dad and coach Howie Smith.

Neighbour Mindy Polanik , who lives a few houses down from them, found the bag abandoned in the road, where the thief apparently dropped it. She was preparing flyers to seek its owner when she learned it was Troy’s.
