Four fisherman were rescued off a life raft Saturday morning after their boat sank about seven miles off the coast of Provincetown, the Coast Guard said.

A Coast Guard helicopter plucked them from the raft at 7:30 a.m. They had abandoned the fishing vessel Kathy Elizabeth when it began taking on water, the Coast Guard said.

A crew member issued a distress call before they jumped ship. The 38-foot vessel was based out of Scituate.

The crew members, all of Scituate, were unhurt. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

The crew members were identified as Philip Lynch, 35, Brendan Duffey, 36, McLean Vuilleumier, 23, and Stephen Kenney, 30.

They were wearing survival suits and were in the raft for about 15 minutes before being rescued, the Coast Guard said.
