Man is cured from cancer thanks to a miracle

Published: January 3, 2006

A Valley man proves miracles do happen.

George Ferrell never expected he’d be here for the new year, neither did his family.

Ferrell was diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer. When doctors told him his prognosis wasn’t good, Ferrell decided to plan his own funeral.

But with lots of prayers and a new form of treatment, Ferrell beat the odds.

George and Mildred Ferrell have been married for almost 49 years. With four grown children and ten grandkids, everything seemed to be perfect.

But in March, George wasn’t feeling well. When he went to the doctor, he got the news he didn’t want to hear.

“I felt down and out bad when he come in and told me I had cancer,” said George Ferrell.

George was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of cancer that attacks plasma cells, the cells that produce antibodies.

“I was worried because I didn’t know how long he would live,” says Mildred Ferrell.

George took bottles of medication, chemotherapy treatments, and even a stem cell transplant. But nothing worked.

Doctors then prescribed a new drug called Velcade. A few treatments later…

“He said you’re cancer is showing zero,” said George.

But the Farrells say it’s not the drug that got rid of his cancer.

“I believe the Lord did it all,” said Mildred.

“Doctors don’t know it all. They just a tool in God’s hand working,” said George.

With the family’s Christmas decorations already boxed up, the Ferrell’s look forward to spending many more Christmases together. After all, miracles do happen.

George says he’s a bit weak, but is feeling much better.

The Ferrells will reach a milestone this month. They’ll be celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary January 28th.
