Miracle of lost quake girl

Published 28 Dec. 2005

A GIRL of 13 who was believed to have died in the Pakistan earthquake has been reunited with her parents THREE MONTHS after the disaster.

Sobia Naz suffered head injuries as she fled her home in the mountain village of Sever Hangrai.

She was discovered by aid workers who airlifted her to Islamabad as her family searched for her.

Sobia could only say a few sentences and was unable to give details about her home or relatives.

Volunteer Naila Zahid said: “She would silently cry and wanted to run away because she was scared.”

Sobia’s carers finally traced her family after she pointed to the word Yaseen in the Koran, indicating it was her father’s name.

She was reunited with her tearful dad Mohammad Yaseen yesterday.
