Soldier reunited with her quads
Published: December 6, 2005
A Minnesota soldier is home, reunited for the first time in months with her family, which includes 5-year-old quadruplets.
Second Lieutenant Erika Schmidt of Fosston was called to active duty in the Army Reserve last January. She’s a nurse and has been working at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, which cares for Americans wounded in Iraq.
She last saw her family back in June. Saturday night she flew into Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and met her husband, Joe. Sunday they drove to Grand Forks to see five-year-olds Melina, Austin, Christian and Izik — as well as their 11-year-old son, Bryant. The reunion with the children was a surprise.
When she returns to Landstuhl December 12th, the entire family will go along. They’ll stay at the base hotel so they can be together for Christmas
