Kyle Nichols has never seen “Doogie Howser, MD,” maybe because he’s too young, and the network-television sitcom went off the air when he was six.
However, now that he is 18 and bound for medical school at Wake Forest University next year, he has heard plenty of jokes comparing him to the fictional boy wonder who became a doctor at 14. [Doogie Howser, M.D.]
Nichols lives in Mocksville with his parents and teaches algebra and chemistry at Forsythe Technical Community College.

On the first day of his chemistry class earlier this semester, one of his students asked him how old he was, and added “because I know you’re not old enough to drink.”
