Published: November 23, 2005

Two off-duty firefighters and some neighbors helped rescue people from a burning house in Flushing, Queens, Tuesday.

Officials said the fire was reported at 137-03 Booth Memorial Avenue Tuesday afternoon in the three-story house.

One firefighter kept running in and out rescuing people, when a second firefighter joined the effort.

Neighbors helped too by throwing a ladder up against the building to rescue another victim.

Seven people were treated at Booth Memorial Hospital with mostly smoke inhalation injuries. No of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

The firefighters are identified as Thomas Morgan, of Truck 18 in Manhattan, and Steve Devany, of Engine 46 in the Bronx. They did not know each other before this rescue.
