Fellow fishermen go where navy can’t: Missing fishermen rescued

Three fishermen who ventured into the sea for fishing on November 18 and went missing, were found in an unconscious condition off Pudukuppam village this morning.
Fellow fishermen who launched a search operation in the absence of the Coast Guard or Navy coming to the rescue, in view of rough sea condition, found the three fishermen clinging to their capsized boat about 10 km off Pudukuppam in this district. Arumugam, his namesake and Sundaraj, hailing from Devanampet and Thambirampet areas in the district, were admitted to a private hospital here.
The three had ventured into the sea for fishing in a fibre-glass boat on the evening of November 18 and they should have returned on the morning of the next day.
On being informed, District Collector Gagandeep Singh Bedi, had requested the Coast Guard for an aerial search, but the latter could not offer immediate assistance in view of inclement weather.
The Fisheries Department also could not launch a search operation in view of adverse weather conditions.
