Lost cat travels from Arizona to Iowa
Published: November 19, 2005
A green-eyed tabby cat that apparently made its way from Phoenix to Iowa will be reunited with his family today thanks to workers at a Polk County animal hospital.
The cat, named Austin, somehow made it 15-hundred miles in the five months that he was missing.
He was lucky enough to jump into the lap of Nancy Crook, a Carlisle animal enthusiast who works as a technician at the Avondale Cat Hospital. She says she was parked at a bank deposit drive-through window when Austin lept into her car.
Austin has been living at the cat hospital since October 20th. Employees located his owners by scanning a little microchip he had embedded in his skin.
After discovering where his owners lived, the cat got lucky again. One of the animal hospital workers already had plans to travel to Arizona for Thanksgiving.
She’ll reunite the cat today with his owner, 21-year old Megan Rowley.
