It was a decision that saved lives. A baby was dropped from a second-story window Friday morning after fire broke out at a south Columbus home.
Around 3 a.m., a fire tore through the second floor of a duplex. Thirteen people were inside at the time, including children. All of them were asleep.
Chad Anthony woke up to smoke and tried to get everyone out of the house. He also ran upstairs where he found his 1-year-old son. He had no place to escape, so he dropped the baby out the window to a neighbor.
The baby and two others were taken to the hospital.
Fire investigators haven’t determined the cause of the fire. There were no smoke detectors in the home.
