His dad has a deadly genetic disease, one little Colton will never have to worry about.
A Charlotte man with deadly genetic disease is a new father, and he doesn’t have to worry about his child ever feeling the same pain.
It’s all thanks to some local doctors.
Toni and David Brinson longed to have a child of their own, but knew the chances of of passing on a genetic disorder were high.
David has CADISIL, a disorder causing dementia, stroke and eventually death.
The couple sought the help of doctors at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
By a process called PGD, doctors isolated healthy embryos from the ones carrying the cadisil gene.
With the help of in vitro fertilization, toni got pregnant.
Colton Worth Brinson is their new baby’s name. He does not carry the CADISIL gene.
