Dreams come true for ‘Angel Eyes’ mum

“They rang Pierce and asked him what he thought of the idea. He said ‘that’s absolutely wonderful’. Who wouldn’t?” she added. “With Victoria being so ill, she was the priority and getting married was never an option. There hasn’t been a year in the last ten years when one of us wasn’t in hospital,” she said.
Frances describes the preparation for the wedding – with camera crew and producers in tow – as ‘madness.’ “It was a crazy few weeks. We had just three weeks to get everything together. We had a wedding planner and she was wonderful. I bought everything I needed locally, from the dress to the ring, because the local community has been so good to me over the years when I was fundraising for the charity that I wanted to make sure the business stayed here,” she explained.
The venue for their fairytale wedding was Killashee House Hotel in Naas, and Frances says staff and management pulled out all the stops.
“Wow! The hotel was amazing. The detail was unreal. The camera crew were there all the time, but they weren’t intrusive at all. It just felt like someone videoing the wedding. It felt very natural and normal,” she says. Frances’s story and her amazing surprise wedding will be featured across two shows on the new programme on 20 and 27
November on RTÉ 1. Her work with the Angel Eyes charity and her dedication to establishing a special needs school in the county genuinely moved producers and crew on the show.
“When we got married, some of the crew cried. They really did! They said they never cry at these things, but couldn’t believe how much the family had been through. It was lovely,” added Frances.
