Girl to give hair to Locks of Love
Published: November 5, 2005
Isabella Gray of Good Hope is scheduled to have her first hair cut today.
Isabella is three years old. Her hair falls below the waist line, which is why her parents came up with an idea that Isabella likes too - giving the cut hair to Locks of Love.
“We talked to her about it,” said Jana Gray, Isabella’s mother. “She understands as much as a three-year-old can. She likes the idea, she’s excited about it.”
Locks of Love takes donated hair from people like Isabella and uses the hair to make wigs for people who have lost their hair for reasons like chemotherapy or radiation.
Locks of Love needs at least 10 inches of hair to use it for a wig.
Isabella easily passes that test. Jana said her hair will be shoulder length once it is cut. Jana said her daughter is not concerned about losing her locks.
“She keeps telling us it’s alright because it will grow back,” Jana added.
Jana said she got the idea to donate the hair after reading about someone else in the Journal who donated their hair to the organization.
Isabella is having her hair cut at All About You in Macomb, which works with Locks of Love when someone comes in to get a haircut and wants to donate their hair.
