Eye Doctor Making a Difference
Published: November 4, 2005
Stansbury Park resident Deborah Webb had had enough. She couldn’t see well with her contact lenses and was tired of carrying & or forgetting to carry & her reading glasses with her everywhere she went. She thought she might need bifocals, but she wasn’t sure. She wondered about LASIK, yet she didn’t know if it was right for her.
Although not fond of eye exams, she decided it was time to visit an eye doctor and get some help.
Webb scheduled an appointment and visited with Tooele County’s new optometrist Dr. Timothy Gibbons at the Moran Eye Center at the University Health Care Stansbury Health Center. They discussed the pros and cons of bifocal contact lenses and LASIK.
“Dr. Gibbons took his time with me, listening to my concerns and helping me understand my options,” Webb said. “When I decided to try the bifocal contact lenses, he took the time to get them right. My contacts are comfortable. He was able to correct my vision for distance and for reading with one pair of contacts. I don’t have to worry about carrying my reading glasses anymore. Most of all, I can see well, and Dr. Gibbons made it happen.”
Gibbons is making a difference in the community in other ways as well. He is the only eye doctor in Tooele County making house calls. Homebound residents can now get in-home eye exams and glasses fittings by making an appointment with Gibbons.
Additionally, residents can see Gibbons at the Moran Eye Center the same day they call for an appointment. Furthermore, he is a participating provider of the InfantSEE program, providing free eye exams to infants six months to one year. He also speaks fluent Spanish.
“My commitment to every person in this great community is to provide the best and most complete eye care possible,” Gibbons said. “I care about my patients and making a difference in their lives.”
Gibbons is a Tooele resident. He received a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and the Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn. He belongs to the American Optometric Association and the Utah Optometric Association.
