9 yo’s wheel chair stolen: radio station to the rescue

Published: November 4, 2005

A local Canadian radio station is rallying to the aid of a nine-year-old boy whose wheelchair was stolen by heartless thieves.

Paul Brown, who hosts a morning show on 100.3 The Bear, says he’ll dip into the radio station’s children’s fund to buy Tyler Morgans an electric wheelchair.

“The fact that Tyler’s going to get an electric wheelchair just makes my heart melt,” said his father Charlie. “I couldn’t do it because they are so expensive.

“I don’t know how I’m going to repay the Bear morning crew for what they’re doing … I have no words. I thought they would help us out by donating money, but the full cost of the wheelchair?”

Thieves broke into the family’s north-side garage and made off with tools and Tyler’s wheelchair overnight Sunday.

Tyler depends on his wheelchair because of an undiagnosed condition. Because of the theft, he was unable to go out for Halloween.
