Parents To Be Reunited With Toddler Found In S.F.
Published: November 3, 2005
The toddler who wandered away from his family’s home in San Francisco’s Twin Peaks neighborhood overnight was scheduled to be reunited with his parents Thursday.
The mystery of the 3-year-old boy’s identity was solved when his parents awoke to find him missing and called police at 5:30 a.m. It was the conclusion officers were hoping for.
The story began at approximately 12:30 a.m. when a nurse on her way home from a late shift at a local hospital noticed the child wandering the center of Burnett Avenue, wearing only his Blue’s Clues pajamas and a pair of socks.
The nurse stopped her car, picked up the boy and alerted a nearby MUNI bus driver, who called 911.
“She stopped got the little boy into her car,” said Sgt. Alan Callaway. “She was taking him to her house to call 911 when she noticed a MUNI driver at a bus stop and had the MUNI driver call 911.”
Police interviewed the parents and according to their account, the child apparently awoke and left the family’s apartment on his own.
That included getting out of his toddler bed, located in his parents’ room, and climbing a table to unlock the front door, before making his way to the street.
Police said they were investigating to make sure there was no parental negligence in the matter.
