Dog tracks man who fled accident

Published: November 2, 2005

A 25-year-old Sheboygan man who tried to flee the scene of an accident on foot was tracked down by the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department’s new police dog at about 5 p.m. Sunday in Kohler, police said.

Josh L. Peschke, of 422 Center Ave., was charged Monday in Sheboygan County Circuit Court with a fourth offense of drunken driving, hit-and-run and operating after revocation of his license.

Peschke’s car rear-ended another vehicle at Highland Drive and Market Street, said Chief William Rutten of the Kohler Police Department.

Peschke fled on foot before the arrival of officers, who could not find him, Rutten said.

However, Don, a German shepherd that began working for the sheriff’s department in October, found Peschke hiding in bushes about 50 yards from the accident scene, Rutten said.
