Lost dog found by WVU grad in Charlotte reunited with owner

Published: October 28, 2005

A West Virginia University graduate now living in Charlotte had only two clues to the owner of a lost dog he found hanging around his front door.
Luke Smith found the white dog on October 16th. The animal had two dog licenses from 2003-2004, one for the city and the other for Monongalia County.

Smith says he was surprised when he saw the tags and wondered how the dog managed to find someone who was familiar with Morgantown, West Virginia.

After he contacted the Monongalia County Assessor’s Office, the office manager dug through the records and found a name and a local phone number.

A relative who declined to be identified told the local newspaper that the dog found by Smith belonged to the family. The relative also wanted to know how to contact Smith.

Smith says the dog’s owner, who now lives in Charlotte as well, called him last night.
