Father rescues family from burning home

A FATHER has rescued his wife and three children from their burning home following a series of arson attacks in Adelaide’s south.
The man woke to the smell of smoke about 4.45am today and rushed his young family outside before their house, on the corner of Lynton Avenue and Woolacombe Street at North Brighton, went up in flames.
The fire caused about $300,000 in damage.
It has been linked to eight brush fence fires that were deliberately lit in the Brighton area overnight.
No-one was injured in the arson attacks.
“This could have caused tragic circumstances, as the family of five escaped with only minutes to spare,” Metropolitan Fire Service spokesman Richard Grey said.
“The dad was lucky to wake up and discover the fire.”
South Australian police door-knocked the area this morning in an effort to discover who was responsible for the spate of fires.
“Police have suspicions that, as the fires are contained within a one square kilometre area, they are linked to the same people,” Mr Grey said.
At this stage, there is no description of the arsonists, however police are expected to remain in the area for the rest of the day, searching for further leads.
“The culprits must be apprehended before they strike again,” Mr Grey said.
