Puppies Rescued From Sewer

Published: October 21, 2005

Two five-weeks-old puppies were saved yesterday, after being trapped in a sewer in Clairton.

The little cocker spaniels cried for help after falling seven feet through a small open sewer hole in owner Lucrezia Hammie’s basement.

After Hammie called for help, Clairton Public Works and A-1 Sewer Cleaning Company came to the rescue.

Six workers used a backhoe to dig a hole in the sidewalk to get the puppies.
