Mystery couple bid to save cancer mum

A BRISBANE mother with cancer has been gifted a fighting chance by a mystery couple after Federal Government red tape restricted her from treatment with a drug that could save her life.
Coorparoo mother-of-two Leanne Bradshaw has aggressive breast cancer and has a better chance of survival if she can get access to the drug Herceptin.
Clinical tests show Herceptin could help save the 28-year-old’s life but Government regulations say she has to pay for the $53,000 treatment herself because it is only available free to those in the final stages of the disease.
In desperation Mrs Bradshaw went public with her plight, revealing husband Scott, a career army man, plans to walk from Brisbane to Sydney in a bid to raise the cash needed to save his wife’s life.
But the young family are celebrating after an anonymous couple offered them the entire $53,000. Other smaller donations have also flowed in.
“It has been an amazing week. There are so many good people out there,” a delighted Mrs Bradshaw said.
The generous couple asked to remain anonymous: the only thanks they wanted was to see her have the chance to see her children Riley and Toben grow up.
Mr Bradshaw still plans to complete his 1000km walk to Sydney.
“He still wanted to do it because any money he raises now can go to a fund we have started to help women in the same predicament,” Mrs Bradshaw said.
