Mother reunited with child, 8, after thief abandons car

Published: October 14, 2005

A woman entering a gas station on Bridgestone Parkway in La Vergne had her car stolen last night with her 8-year-old child still inside, La Vergne police said.

The woman, whose name wasn’t released, went inside the BP station and left her Toyota Corolla running with her child in the back seat. Police said a woman then jumped into the car and sped from the gas station.

The mother was reunited with her child and got her car returned, police said.

Metro and La Vergne police were still searching for the suspect, described as a white woman in her mid- to late 20s with a tattoo on the left side of her neck. Police said she was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans. Last night police had not determined what charges she might face.
