Lex reunited with owner in Houston: Terrier-fic job all round
Published: October 12, 2005
It has been a long adventure for Lex, the little dog stranded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for eight days.
However, it was a happy ending for the six-year-old terrier when he finally made it safely to Houston, Texas.
Lex was greeted with open arms by his owner, Christine Judy Victor, at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport after arriving on a British Airways (BA) flight at 2.30pm Houston time (5.30am Malaysian time) on Monday.
Christine told The Malay Mail she was overjoyed to see Lex again.
“I am just relieved that the whole episode has ended. It has been four months since I last saw Lex, and I am glad that he is here where he belongs,” said the 42-year-old housewife.
She said Lex appeared a little traumatised by the ordeal but was none the worse for wear.
“He had some trouble recognising us at first as we had been apart for four months since my family moved from Miri, Sarawak, to the US in June.
“He was shivering from the cold, but he was back to his joyful old self after a while,” she said.
She also praised Malaysia Airlines (MAS) staff who helped oversee Lex’s travel arrangements.
“However, I am indebted to The Malay Mail for their dedication to seeing Lex arrive here safely. All this would not have been possible without them. They have really lived up to their motto, The Paper That Cares,” she said.
Lex arrived at the KLIA from Miri on Oct 2 to connect with a MAS flight to London, and then transfer to Houston via a British Airways flight.
However, the dog was stranded at the KLIA ‘animal hotel’ for eight days, prompting Christ- ine’s sister, Anne, to seek help from The Malay Mail.
