Firefighters take pity; rescue fluffy kitten
Published: October 12, 2005
A KITTEN got stuck in a tree and had to be rescued by firefighters.
Concerned residents at Days Mead, Hatfield, spotted the terrified young moggy at around 10pm last Tuesday.
And although firefighters don’t usually get involved until a cat has been stuck for several days, they took pity on the fluffy creature after a call from the RSPCA.
Sub officer Steve Duncan, of Hatfield fire station, told the WHT: “We still do this type of thing!
“Residents had done their best to try to get it down but it wasn’t having any of it.
“Apparently it had been chased by a dog. We got it down and it ran straight off.”
Despite the traditional image of firefighters rescuing cats from trees, it is actually quite rare, according to Mr Duncan.
But it did put a smile on the crew’s faces, he added.
