James Warner-Smith reunited with long-lost twin

Published: September 25, 2005

James Warner-Smith found his canine twin today - sort of.

He found his little furry look-alike while emceeing the Humane Society’s Cause for Paws Walkathon in Kinsmen Hiawatha Park.

Scooby Doo, brought to the event by Anna Marie Levesque, won the prestigious “Dog That Most Looks Like James Warner-Smith” prize.

Warner-Smith and his four-legged twin were happy to help the Humane Society raise money for its shelter on Second Line Road and programs run from there.

The dog with the longest ears was Sault Search and Rescue pooch Maggie, and prizes were also awarded to the dog with the shortest legs and the one with the strangest looking face.

The Humane Society gave away a six-month YMCA membership, an eight-foot trampoline and a camping combo among other prizes.

Over 100 dogs turned up with their people, some in matching collars or similar outfits and others just came out for a nice doggy bag to take home.

The walkathon raised more than $11,000, said the Human Society’s Joyce Kohut.

Kohut said that funds raised will be used for shelter costs and for programs to spay and neuter animals, provide emergency veterinary care and foster newborn animals among other animal welfare programs.
