Kids rescued from the sea
Published: September 23, 2005
TWO children were rescued from the sea after getting into difficulty off the west Cumbrian coast yesterday.
A lifeboat and a coastguard team were launched after passers-by dialled 999 when they spotted the boy and girl struggling in waters at St Bees Head.
A coastguard spokesman said they were not needed because the children, aged 12 and 13, were pulled out by their father.
The children, from Shropshire, were taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven to be checked over after their ordeal at about 5pm.
The rescue was a year after the death of Wayne Adams, 10, who drowned saving his brother from the sea off St Bees.
