Dog attends college in Montana
Published: September 13, 2005
Zulu is making new friends at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. But unlike the other new students, Zulu won’t be shaking any hands.
He’ll be happy to give his classmates a friendly lick, though.
Zulu is a yellow Lab puppy, who is a future companion dog. But before he can be taught the specifics of helping the handicapped, Zulu needs some basic training.
That’s why he’s at Carroll.
He’ll be roaming the halls and getting used to being around people.
Psychology professor Anne Perkins is overseeing Zulu’s college stay.
Perkins hopes to eventually train the service dogs on campus — and in the process teach the human students about animal psychology.
