A missing New Braunfels boy is reunited with his father after an international search that lasted three years.
This past Thursday, F.B.I agents found Jeremy DeWalt in Mexico with his mother who allegedly kidnapped him in October of 2002.
Both were flown back to New Braunfels early this morning. Comal County District Attorney Dib Waldrip and New Braunfels Lietuenant Mike Rust say Jeremy’s mom Suzanne snatched him and took him to Mexico after she lost custody.
A tip led the F.B.I to the pair in Zacatecas, Mexico. Agents took both mom and son into custody, and flew them back to Texas early saturday morning.
Jeremy had been living in Mexico under a different name, and will now have to readjust to life in with his dad and his birth name.
“They’re gonna have to work at it but an eight-year-old child is pretty resilient,” said New Braunfels Lieutenant Mike Rust. “I think he’ll be alright. I know the family loves him and that’s the big thing.”
