Twins reunited 59 years on
Published: September 9, 2005
Norman Vickers and Joan Seaward, 59, were separated when their struggling single mum begged a friend to adopt her daughter in 1945.
Joan did not even know she had a twin until she was 11. But after a 20-year search by decorator Norman they were reunited.
And both were shocked to find they lived at Nos 44 and 77 on the same street in Stockton On Tees, Cleveland, for years, and drank in the same pub.
Norman even used to buy his sandwiches in a cafe where Joan worked.
Norman who lives in Formby, Merseyside, said: “Neither of us ever had an inkling. I reckon it’s a million-to-one chance.”
They both have six children and been taxi drivers.
