Woman’s Dog Attacked Two Attempted Robbers
Published: August 30, 2005
Sarasota County Sheriff’s officials say a woman’s dog helped them stop two suspects in an attempted robbery.
A police report states that the Suncoast woman was at a grocery store parking lot when two men approached her with a gun, demanding that she give them everything she had on her.
That’s when authorities say the woman’s 60-pound dog sitting in the back seat of the car began barking and attacked the suspects. The two fled on foot.
Police say they now have the two suspects in custody.
Eighteen year-olds Joseph Gallo and Lawrence Andrews face several charges including armed robbery.
Both are being held without bond at the Sarasota County Jail.
