Juice breakthrough cuts heart attack risk

Published: August 24, 2005

A FRUIT juice created in Liverpool that will reduce the risk of heart attacks and thrombosis will be available in four of the five major UK supermarkets early next year.

Medical foods company Provexis has created the juice using a patented formula and yesterday revealed plans to launch a big advertising campaign in the New Year.

The juice, to be branded Sirco, uses a bioactive extract from tomatoes called Fruitflow.

Dr Stephen Franklin, chief executive of the Alternative Investment Market listed Provexis, said: “It has been proven in human trials to inhibit blood platelet aggregation and thereby reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis, the primary cause of heart attack and stroke.”
