Abducted boy home safe

Published: August 13, 2005

A missing southern Ontario boy was returned home safely after being the subject of an Amber Alert, as police began questioning two suspects that may have been involved in the child’s abduction.

York Regional Police confirmed a child brought into custody early Saturday morning was missing three-year-old Denzel Wozniak of Newmarket, Ont., after he was identified by family members.

Police said the boy is safely with his father and grandmother.

Wozniak went missing at a McDonald’s parking lot in Newmarket Friday evening. He was with his grandmother and mother at the time.

Authorities had said the child was with a man in his 20s, but police wouldn’t comment on the identities of either of the suspects they were talking to.

“No one is charged, but we are interviewing a couple people right now,” York police Const. Nicole Vandergulik said, shortly after the child’s identity was confirmed.
