Cop rescues wheelchair-woman from freezing water

AN OFF-DUTY WPC saved a wheelchair-bound woman who had fallen into a river.
Jenny Fraser jumped into the freezing water to save Jane MacAllister from drowning.
Jane, 52, had been out in her motorised wheelchair with her pet Yorkshire Terrier on a river bank when her buggy plunged into the River Peffery in Dingwall.
It overturned, leaving only Jane’s feet sticking out of the water.
Jenny, 29, had been out walking her own dog on Tuesday night when she heard a couple shouting.
Jenny explained: ‘It was very chilly, murky water, about three feet deep and was covering the woman apart from her feet.
‘I tried to lift the cart but it was stuck, so I undid her seatbelt and raised her head clear of the water.’
Rescue services had arrived on the scene by then and one of Jenny’s colleagues, Constable Gavin MacGillivray, helped her lift the unconscious woman to safety.
Jane was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. Last night, her condition was ’serious’.
Jenny added: ‘I was just glad to have got to her in time
