Horse with a hole in its head healed

Published: August 10, 2005

A horse in Ohio may be able to race again after doctors patched up a quarter-size hole in its head, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Money was raised for Tuesday’s operation after a story in the Plain Dealer generated attention.

Barbara B.J. Hartmann oversees the Miracle Farm Rescue Foundation, which arranged the surgery.

Hartmann said there was such a response that she is still sending out thank you cards to people who made donations.

Hartmann thinks that BB Bunny Bell was in a pasture and another horse kicked it in the face, exposing the sinus cavity.

If BB Bunny Bell makes it back to the track, any winnings will go to the foundation to rescue other horses.
