Family’s six-day trek for charity

Published: August 9, 2005

A family are hoping to raise money for brain-injured children by attempting a six-day journey by wheelchair, bike and on foot.

Tina George’s son Cory was badly hurt in a road crash in February and was helped by the Child Brain Injury Trust.

She is setting off with 14 family and friends from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, on a 146-mile (235km) trek to their home in Aberdare, Wales.

Their first stop will be the charity headquarters in Oxford on 22 August.

The trip was originally due to begin on Monday but was postponed over the weekend.

Mrs George and her group said they are planning to camp along the way.

Jan Marshall, who works for the charity in Oxford, said: “We are frequently inspired by the courage and determination of the families we meet as they overcome adversity.

“Like most small charities we constantly need funds to continue our work and when Tina rang us and told us of these plans we were delighted and moved.”
