Charity celebrates a century of friendship
Published: August 5, 2005
Sutton pensioners stepped back in time last month when they donned turn of the century dress to celebrate 100 years of friendship.
More than 100 elderly people gathered at Clover Dale Court Day Centre, Stanley Park Road, Carshalton, for a party to commemorate the centenary of Friends of the Elderly.
Guests at the bash for the charity, which brings isolated people together, were treated to a poached salmon lunch followed by strawberries and whipped cream.
After lunch revellers took to the dance floor as two entertainers performed a series of songs from before the war.
Wendy Carpenter, Cloverdale Court day centre manager, said: “It was really lovely to get everybody together.”
