Charity event to benefit young mothers
Published: August 3, 2005
Angel Babies hosts its first annual “Fun Fest” Saturday, a charity event aimed at raising money to support teen mothers.
This is the group’s 10th year, and Sheri Robertson said their goal is to open a donation-based, gently used baby store to further the mission. Each year at Christmas, Angel Babies gives 150 gift bags including a new outfit, a warm sleeper, a blanket and other necessities to new teen mothers and their babies.
Robertson said the young mothers have made the decision to keep their babies and face the challenge of learning to be a parent, taking care of their children and trying to stay in school. She said Angel Babies wants to encourage them in the tough times.
Saturday’s event will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Storage Place, located south of 151st St. on Pflumm Road, near Johnson County Executive Airport. Activities at the free event include a moon walk, food, shopping and prizes.
